Dear Expectant and New Parents,

As April blooms around us, we're diving into a topic that's close to the hearts of many new parents: newborn sleep during the first three months. Adjusting to your little one's sleep patterns can be challenging, but remember, you're not alone on this journey. Here are some gentle tips to help you and your baby navigate this stage with grace and ease.

Newborn Sleep Tips

💤 Prioritize Self-Care: Amidst the joy and exhaustion of caring for your newborn, it's crucial to prioritize your own well-being. Take short breaks when you can, delegate tasks to supportive friends or family members, and remember to nourish yourself with nutritious food and plenty of hydration. A well-rested and nourished parent is better equipped to care for her little one.

💤 Create a Calming Sleep Environment: Babies thrive in calm and soothing environments, especially during sleep time. Consider creating a cozy sleep space for your baby with soft lighting, gentle white noise, and comfortable bedding. Establishing a consistent bedtime routine can also help signal to your baby that it's time to wind down and prepare for sleep. Check out some of my favorites that create the perfect sleep space!

💤 Embrace Flexible Sleep Patterns: In the early months, newborn sleep patterns can be unpredictable. Rather than striving for a rigid schedule, embrace flexibility and follow your baby's cues. Pay attention to their sleepy signals, such as eye rubbing or fussiness, and offer comfort and reassurance as needed. Remember, this stage is temporary, and your baby's sleep patterns will gradually become more predictable over time. Here is a FREE Baby Sleep Tracker to help you note your baby's sleep patterns. I hope you find this helpful!

💤 Seek Support and Guidance: Don't hesitate to reach out for support and guidance during this transitional period. Whether it's seeking advice from your doula, joining a new parents' support group, or connecting with other parents online, knowing that you're not alone can provide immense comfort and reassurance. If you are struggling to support your baby's sleep needs, reach out and we'll find a way to ease your stress when it comes to getting more sleep for the whole family! You can schedule a call to set up a free 15 minute chat with me, to learn how I can help!

As you navigate the ups and downs of newborn sleep, remember to be gentle with yourself and celebrate the small victories along the way. Your love, patience, and nurturing care are laying the foundation for a lifetime of healthy sleep habits and cherished moments with your little one.

This and much more is what you will learn when working with me. I pride myself on working step-by-step to better sleep starting exactly where you are now, no judgment. There's always areas we can adjust to get improvements sometimes overnight! Schedule your call with me!

We cannot say enough good things about Deb as a Doula or person. She became a member of our family while working for us as our night doula, and had a profound impact on the lives of our twins and us as parents.
